Review of the KitchenAid Artisan Food Processor.   Leave a comment

Today at Here For A Day we are really excited to bring you the KitchenAid Black Artisan Food Processor for just £204.99 – that’s a massive £145 off the RRP.

To give you a bit more of an insight into just how great the Artisan is we have asked Rachael from London, friend of HFAD to tell you about hers:

“I have had my KitchenAid food processor for about 3 years now and I use it several times a week, because it is compact and looks great I leave it on my kitchen side and don’t bother to put it away after using.

I have found that I use this processor frequently because it gives me the option to use the different sized bowls provided, enabling me to chop small items quickly with little fuss or mess and the wide feed tube means that I can process larger items without having to cut them up before hand.

The best thing about this processor is that it is so easy to clean – after using it I just remove the bowl and blades and put them in the dishwasher!

I would recommend the KitchenAid to anyone that wants to make their life easier but loves to cook!”

Cupcake Friday!   Leave a comment

I finally had a chance to use my new Kmix Hand mixer last night whilst creating the delicious birthday cupcakes for the HFAD. I found this hand mixer so easy and efficient, especially compared to the flimsy electric whisk I had previously. If you missed the stunning Kmix hand mixer the first time around, we have a few left today in our Second Chance Friday event – you’ll have to be quick though!

“The supermarket carrier bag holder fits well on the side of the island in the middle of our kitchen, it is easy to fill and easy to extract the bags from it.  I think it looks much smarter than the other carrier bag holders I have seen for sale and is so much better than the old wine box I used before! The caddy for holding washing up sponges etc. has suction cups on the back of it as well as the holding bar on top. It does the job capably and looks attractive in my kitchen. The table top bin is very useful when we are eating in the Dining Room, we can put any small items of rubbish into it to keep the place looking tidier.”

The fantastic SimpleHuman utility items featured will be available this weekend as a side deal, at Here For A Day.

DeLonghi Espresso Machine Review   1 comment

I was pretty pleased to have the opportunity to review the DeLonghi EC220 coffee machine as I did have a pretty standard coffee machine, until it broke in the summer. The coffee machine I had was quite large and plastic without any of the espresso of milk frothing features.

When I opened the box of the DeLonghi – I was surprised to find it was so compact. Even though the machine is small it feels quite heavy and sturdy. I skimmed the easy instructions and filled the tank at the back of the machine with water, then turned it on by simply switching the dial to the ‘on’ position. Thinking that the machine would take a while to heat up I left my boyfriend in the kitchen to carry on with breakfast so I could get on with something in another room. Expecting it to take at least 5- 10 minutes, I was shocked when Steve called me in about a minute later to tell me the green ‘ready’ light had come on!

All I had to do next was put some ground coffee into the espresso pod and compress it with one of the attachments then connect it to the machine. When in place I turned the dial to the ‘cup’ position and hot coffee came out quickly, into the cup placed below. It took about 30 seconds for the coffee to come out – until the green light turned off, which is the cue to turn the machine to the off position. I had decided to make a cappuccino, so next I tried the milk frother. Again the machine was already hot enough and ready to use, to use the steam attachment all I has to do was switch the dial to the steam position, and then adjust the steam pressure. The milk heated up really quickly and was really easy to froth making a super cappuccino!

To clean the machine after use, all I needed to do was remove the used coffee from the espresso pod and wipe the milk steamer attachment. Realistically I think I would only need to clean the machine thoroughly just once a week, by running water through the espresso and steam attachments, which wouldn’t take longer than 5 minutes!

Overall I really liked the fact the machine hardly took up any room in my kitchen but didn’t feel light and cheap like many other small espresso machines I’ve seen. The coffee machine was so quick and easy to use, which is great for me as I often skip breakfast in exchange for a preferred few extra minutes in bed – but I can’t miss my first coffee of the morning! With my old machine I didn’t have enough time to set it up in the morning so I would stick to instant coffee, however with this machine I have managed to whizz up fresh cappuccinos and lattes in about 2 minutes, which made my early mornings much better!

The only downside I found with the machine was the fact that I couldn’t fit a mug under the espresso machine as the space is designed for a small jug or a coffee cup. This wasn’t really much of a negative as it meant I finally had an excuse to use my vintage coffee set, which has been tucked away in the back of a cupboard!

After using the DeLonghi EC220, I am pretty reluctant to let it go, infact I don’t think I can stand to put it back in it’s packaging….. I’m just going to have to keep it!
